The idea from which the project developed, was born from a trip to the client’s country, where the need arose, in a certain way, to reproduce the architectural tradition of soviet brutalism that historically has been so present in their lives… and therefore, came Le Corbusier and his bêton brut as project leitmotiv.Save this picture!© David FrutosAfter the initial ideas, we did a deep reflection between what the house should be on its own, and what it would be because of the place in which it’s framed, an impressive natural landscape facing the sea with a balcony looking over the Mediterranean. Thus, the project emerges as a juxtaposition of ideas that solve different needs. These include concepts that are foreign to one’s own architecture, such as the concept of investment, period of stay in the guest area, etc. So, considering these concepts that are not very logical or easy to interweave and apparently are in contradiction with the affable character of the owners, and considering also that some of these concepts could be understood as ostentatious, empty or redundant, it was decided to act decisively and firmly by building a massive volume that clearly expresses the customer’s wishes, like a punch at the table.Save this picture!© David FrutosSave this picture!Transversal Section 1.1Save this picture!© David FrutosOne of the main challenges to be solved would be to provide the house with the maximum possible privacy while not blocking the exceptional sea views of the plot. Therefore, after evaluating the variables of access, orientation, views, bioclimatic hypothesis, privacy and the strong slope of the plot, we decided a geometry whose plant would be an “L” shape, where the northeast facade is transparent, i.e. a large window that turns into a lookout to the sea, and the rest of the facades, are opaque, massive, pure concrete that ensures the necessary privacy regarding the neighborhood. In addition, thanks to cross ventilation, thermal mass, solar protections and a detailed study of shadows, an efficient home was achieved, with very low energy consumption.Save this picture!© David FrutosIn this sense, a particularity of this dwelling, is to have built it without having used a single brick… all the facades and partitions of the house have been made of exposed concrete executed in-situ, as a coherent denouement to the aforesaid bêton brut. Therefore, it was decided to be very simple and to use few materials … only concrete, wood and steel, all of them basic but very noble materials.Save this picture!Plan 1The house offers a unique answer to different problems, clearly separating the more public areas from the private ones, as well as the night program from the day. The house is composed of two floors, on the ground floor is located the day program, except for the main bedroom, which is inserted in the northwest façade. However, the night program is distributed on the first floor, where the garage and the main access of the house are also located, due to the need of access to the top of the plot. In the intersection zone of the two wings you can find the hall and the vertical nucleus of communication in double height, articulating the distribution of the rooms of both plants.Save this picture!© David FrutosSave this picture!Plan 0Save this picture!© David FrutosThe building forms a unique and resounding volume, despite the fact that the ground floor is larger, this part of the building is buried underground, so the exterior perception remains as that of a single container space.Save this picture!© David FrutosIn the exterior, native vegetation has been used and the original terraces of the plot have been restored, achieving maximum integration of the house in the natural context in which it is framed.Save this picture!© David FrutosProject gallerySee allShow lessGlenn Murcutt International Architecture Master ClassWorkshopUniversita Luigi Bocconi / Grafton ArchitectsSelected Projects Share 2016 CopyHouses•Valencia, Spain Manufacturers: Cosentino, Hansgrohe, Vibia, Arflex, Artemide, Astralpool, BPM Lighting, Bega, Cassina, Cemex, Delta Light, Duravit, Flos, Foscarini, Freixanet, Galindo, Gervasoni, Mitsubishi Electric, Saint-Gobain, Schüco, +6Siemens, Villeroy & Boch, Argudo, Ideal Standard, Küppersbusch, Pierinelli-6 Products translation missing: en-US.post.svg.material_description Architects: SINGULAR STUDIO Area Area of this architecture project Spain “COPY” Houseslast_img

House’s owners, both husband and wife are both airplane pilots, which is a career that takes long work periods in a very small area like cockpit. They all rarely have body movement or touching natural air when working, meanwhile each other’s schedules don’t match completely. To solve those problems, we thought of how to create spaces to enable them to take deep breaths of the fresh air and able to see each other every time they want.Save this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatSave this picture!First Floor PlanSave this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatSave this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatThe house is located in a very good location with low level of air pollution in a far deep alleyway (soi Vibhavadi 60) and far from main road, the place located on an inheritance land, surrounded by their relatives, allow this house to have plenty of spaces to plant trees around the house.Save this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatSave this picture!Second Floor PlanSave this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatAn area size of 200 square seems too big compare to owners’ required usable area, therefore, there is no need to design a house too compact. We separated house elements into 3 zones, e.g. Living area, bedroom, and guest area. Inserting spaces between these zones with green courtyard, results in meeting owners’ needs mentioned above.Save this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatTo optimize an architecture surface to touch the nature as much as possible, both from experiencing green view from their eyes, or from opening all glass folding doors to create natural ventilation, able to feel the fresh air. All these three zones are not divided by interior partition wall, you have to walk from interior of one zone to exterior first, in order to lead dwellers to perceive a scent of nature among green courtyard before walking to other zones.Save this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatSave this picture!SectionsSave this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatFurthermore, wherever you are in these three zones, you can see each other all the time, for example, when one of the owner brew a coffee in the living area, able to see another one appreciating collectibles in the bedroom, and simultaneously seeing his parents exercising in a swimming pool.Save this picture!© Rungkit CharoenwatProject gallerySee allShow lessThe R wall in Fukui / Yoshichika Takagi + associatesSelected ProjectsEvergreen Church / Oh JongsangSelected Projects Share ArchDaily Photographs:  Rungkit Charoenwat Manufacturers Brands with products used in this architecture project ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/946320/v60-house-warchitect Clipboard 2020 Architects: WARchitect Area Area of this architecture project ShareFacebookTwitterPinterestWhatsappMailOrhttps://www.archdaily.com/946320/v60-house-warchitect Clipboard V60 House / WARchitectSave this projectSaveV60 House / WARchitect Save this picture!© Rungkit Charoenwat+ 54Curated by Hana Abdel Share Photographs Area:  450 m² Year Completion year of this architecture project center_img “COPY” Year:  Thailand V60 House / WARchitect Houses Projects “COPY” CopyHouses, House Interiors•Khet Lak Si, Thailand CopyAbout this officeWARchitectOfficeFollowProductsWoodConcreteBrick#TagsProjectsBuilt ProjectsSelected ProjectsResidential ArchitectureHousesInterior DesignResidential InteriorsHouse InteriorsKhet Lak SiOn FacebookThailandPublished on August 25, 2020Cite: “V60 House / WARchitect” 25 Aug 2020.
