NASCAR announces IMSA changes in marketing department

first_imgWATCH: Kahne collected in restart WATCH: Victory Lane: Kyle Busch Hart, a seasoned motorsports communications professional, will lead all communications efforts for IMSA following the conclusion of this year’s GRAND-AM Road Racing season, as he completes his current responsibilities with GRAND-AM team 8Star Motorsports. He will begin his new role with NASCAR and IMSA on Sept. 30, and join the IMSA Communications team for the final two 2013 American Le Mans Series Presented by Tequila Patron events. Hart’s focus will then shift to planning around the inaugural United SportsCar Racing season set to launch in 2014. He will be based out of IMSA’s Daytona Beach, Fla., headquarters. “David’s deep roots in motorsports and particular passion for sports car racing provide us with a leader to usher in an exciting new era for the sport,” said Brett Jewkes, NASCAR vice president and chief communications officer. “He’s a team player who earned his stripes in the motorsports garages and extended his impact into marketing and corporate communications. “Additionally, Nate joined our team in January and has proven himself to be invaluable in our efforts to enhance our efforts in sports car communications. Hart held that position from 2009 through April of 2013. Hart previously held positions with Sonoma Raceway, the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) and the Cotter Group, managing communications for sponsors involved in both NASCAR and NHRA. Hart named director, IMSA Communications; Siebens promoted to senior manager “The opportunity to contribute to IMSA and the United SportsCar Racing in its inaugural season and beyond is the culmination of my 25 years in motorsports communications,” Hart said. “I’ve been a sports car racing fan since I stood on the driver’s seat and held onto the steering wheel of the Bugeye Sprite my dad and uncles raced in California in the mid-1960s. Remembering The Life Of James Cotton, The Pioneering Blues Harmonica Player

first_imgJames Cotton, the prolific Grammy Award-winning blues harmonica player, died yesterday of pneumonia at the age of 81. Affectionately nicknamed “Mr. Superharp,” Cotton was a pioneering force for the blues, with his career starting as a teenager in the early 1950s with the release of his first single, “Straighten Up Baby.” Over the next six decades, Cotton’s fame grew, playing and recording with the Grateful Dead, Janis Joplin, Steve Miller, Led Zeppelin, B.B. King, as well as taking on the role of Muddy Waters’ sideman for a time.Cotton was a decorated and celebrated musician who was close to the pulse of the ever-evolving blues scene throughout his life. In addition to the Grammies he won for Hard Again in 1977 and Deep In The Blues in 1997 and the nomination for 2013’s Cotton Mouth Man, the harmonica virtuoso also received ten Blues Music Awards, six Living Blues Awards, and the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal’s prestigious B.B. Track Names And Guest Collaborators On New Gorillaz Album Leaked

first_img[H/T Consequence of Sound] Fans of the Gorillaz have certainly been getting antsy since the animated band led by James Hewlett and Damon Albarn announced they’d be releasing new music for the first time since The Fall, their last album which was released in 2011. In February of this year, Albarn confirmed to a fan that the album was complete and that the band was rehearsing for live performances. Earlier in March, the Gorillaz announced The Demon Dayz Festival, their own festival to take place on June 10th at the Dreamland amusement park in Margate, England, which will be their first live appearance since 2012.As fans have been subsisting of the trickle of Gorillaz news over the past few month, perhaps more substantial information about their newest album is finally here. Recently, a number of song titles and the guest collaborators featured on each track have been registered to a music licensing company in the U.K., Phonographic Performance Ltd, including “Hallelujah Money (Feat. Benjamin Clementine),” the track the band released on Inauguration Day.Many of the tracks from this leak line-up with the songs that the Gorillaz have been working on, as told by the band’s Snapchats as they continue with rehearsals. If the rumors are to be believed, which increasingly seems to be the case, the Gorillaz new album will feature the likes of De La Soul, D.R.A.M., Grace Jones, Mavis Staples, Carly Simon, Pusha T, Danny Brown, Vince Staples, and Kelela to name a few.
