Angelina Jolie Has Further Surgery To Reduce Cancer Risk

first_imgAngelina Jolie has revealed she has had her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed as a cancer preventative procedure, following her double mastectomy two years ago.“I wanted other women at risk to know about the options,” she wrote in an op-ed in the New York Times. “I promised to follow up with any information that could be useful.“I feel deeply for women for whom this moment comes very early in life, before they have had their children. Their situation is far harder than mine. I inquired and found out that there are options for women to remove their fallopian tubes but keep their ovaries, and so retain the ability to bear children and not go into menopause. I hope they can be aware of that.“My doctors indicated I should have preventive surgery about a decade before the earliest onset of cancer in my female relatives. My mother’s ovarian cancer was diagnosed when she was 49. I’m 39.“It is not easy to make these decisions. But it is possible to take control and tackle head-on any health issue. You can seek advice, learn about the options and make choices that are right for you. Knowledge is power.”To read the full article, click here.Source:NYTimes.comlast_img read more

The bust is believed to be the largest seizure of fentanyl pills at a southwest border port of entry. It’s the effort to pass the fentanyl off as oxycodone that has federal law enforcement officials most concerned.Walker Hobson said the cartels produce the pills as counterfeit oxycodone because fentanyl is cheaper to make, and oxycodone sells for more on the street.Prosecutors said this trend could pose more danger to drug users who may assume they’re taking oxycondone, when the drug they’re ingesting is fentanyl, a synthetic opioid that is 30-50 times more potent than heroin.“That’s the reason why you have a series of overdoses because what’s happening is the people who are taking it, are taking it thinking it’s oxy, but why would you trust a pill that you buy on the street? I think the message has to be out in the community that people have to think twice about buying anything that they think is oxy,” said Walker Hobson. The defendant, Cristian Araujo Aguirre is in federal custody, after pleading not guilty at an arraignment on a drug importation charge. If convicted, he faces a minimum of 10 years in prison. center_img Teen at San Ysidro Port of Entry with over 11,000 fentanyl pills Sasha Foo, Categories: Local San Diego News FacebookTwitterlast_img read more
