Dubrovnik-Neretva County has signed a concession agreement with the director of Ovalis Nova doo Ivo Šegon from Vela Luka, by which the Dubrovnik-Neretva County gives the concession holder the right to economic use of the special purpose port – nautical tourism port – marina in Vela Luka. On the same occasion, the director of the Vela Luka County Port Authority, Boris Žuvela, signed a contract with the representative of the concessionaire, Ivo Šegon, for the execution of works on public infrastructure.By signing these contracts, the project of arranging and building a marina in Vela Luka with a capacity of up to 200 berths will start, and the value of the project is HRK 47 million, while the concession fee is HRK 285.285, increased by an average of 4,1% of annual revenue. It is interesting that the project takes place in two phases, one of which worth 31 million kuna involves the construction of the marina, and the other involves the reconstruction of the area under the local Port Authority, so the investment in the port area of about 15 million kuna, which is necessary for the marina, remains for use by the Port Authority. “With the decision to grant a concession to the company Ovalis Nova doo, which was passed by the County Assembly, we continue a series of concessions on the maritime domain. Namely, we recently signed contracts for the marina in Lumbarda, we are preparing the same for Blato, and I hope that the state will soon complete the procedures for the marinas in Ploče and Lastovo, since the marinas over 200 berths are under their jurisdiction.. “, Said the prefect Nikola Dobroslavić. He added that he believes that in this way we will make the best use of the maritime domain, which is our great resource: “As before, we will take this most seriously and make a responsible concession, we achieve the highest fees in the whole of Croatia, which are divided into three parts – for the county, for local self-government and for the state.. “Director of the Vela Luka County Port Authority Boris Žuvela expressed satisfaction with the signing of these contracts and stressed that the implementation of this project is very important for the entire municipality of Vela Luka and that the marina will certainly contribute to the development of tourism, small and medium enterprises. The director of Ovalis Nova doo, Ivo Šegon, spoke about the significant impact of this project on the development of the municipality and the economy in the area of Vela Luka, as well as the entire island. He also said that he was glad that this lengthy concession award procedure had finally been completed, so that concrete work could be done on the project of a new marina.Nautical tourism port – Marina Vela LukaThe project is extremely important for the municipality of Vela Luka. The construction of the marina in the central part of Vela Luka will increase the number of nautical tourists, which will significantly affect the increase in total income from tourism and related activities. The central position in the very center of the town will encourage the dispersion of boaters’ consumption to the existing and future catering and other offer. For the realization of this project, the realization of the breakwater project at the entrance to the marina is important. The breakwater can be realized as an integral part of the marina or as part of the operational shore that will remain under the management of the County Administration or as part of the seaport.
