The reasons given for closing the embassy in the first instance were completely bogus and it was a mistake.”“At the time we pointed out the diplomatic value of having representation at the Holy See and the networking influence it gave us. But the Labour Party knew best and pressed ahead with their populist agenda.” “Like so much with this Government, the primary consideration is PR and spin. They closed the Vatican Embassy when they thought it would be popular and now they are re-opening it when they think it might be popular. It is no way to run a diplomatic service and I only hope they have learned from the mistake.”O DOMHNAILL WELCOMES VATICAN EMBASSY U-TURN was last modified: January 21st, 2014 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Brian Ó DomhnaillVaticanlast_img read more
