first_imgLiverpool hero Danny Murphy has told talkSPORT he is feeling “very positive” about the new Premier League season following the Reds’ busy summer transfer window.Brendan Rodgers has recruited wisely during the off season, strengthening all areas of his squad with seven additions including the £32.5million arrival of striker Christian Benteke, defender Nathaniel Clyne for £12.5m and England international James Milner in a free transfer. The Reds seem to have profited from the changes already, with Rodgers’ men unbeaten in their pre-season campaign, while Benteke – who is likely to start the new campaign as the club’s main striker – opened his Liverpool account with a fine goal on Sunday. And Kop favourite Murphy believes they are a more balanced team than the one which finished a disappointing sixth in the league last term.“I’m feeling positive about Liverpool’s season,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.“The signings last summer were a bit rushed after [Luis] Suarez’s exit and some of them obviously haven’t worked, but when you look at it now… their squad looks a lot healthier than it did.“I really like Benteke, I think he’s got some brilliant attributes to play that role and with the creativity behind him I think he’ll get a lot of chances and will score a lot of goals.“Milner was an astute signing as well, he’ll add some experience and legs to the midfield with the departure of Stevie G – though I’m not saying he is Stevie G, far from it.“Also, Clyne is a full-back who can defend and attack, he’ll get forward and provide some ammunition for Benteke.“The squad just looks far more balanced and I’m feeling very positive for Liverpool.”last_img read more
