first_img Paddy McCarthy 1 Crystal Palace defender Paddy McCarthy will rejoin Sheffield United on loan until January, Eagles boss Neil Warnock has confirmed.The experienced centre-back has spent most of this season at the Blades on a short-term deal and secured regular first-team football after a lengthy injury lay-off.His initial stay at Bramall Lane ended on Saturday, but Warnock has agreed to allow McCarthy to remain with Nigel Clough’s side.The 31-year-old, however, will not link up with the League One side again until after this weekend’s FA Cup first round clash at Crewe as Palace do not want him cup-tiedSpeaking ahead of his team’s trip to Manchester United on Saturday, Warnock said: “I spoke to Paddy on Tuesday because it’s important he gets games really. He realises the benefit of playing a few games as he hasn’t played for a year.“I didn’t want him to go into League One, but there’s one or two big clubs in the division, and Sheffield United is one of them so he’s going to go back on loan.
